Trader of the Month - Quinn Green, Pagan Author

Our first issue in a while and I was really pleased to get to interview our very own editor, Quinn Green. Quinn set up POTN over half a decade ago and her first full book is out this month! They were kind enough to take some time out of their schedule to answer my questions especially for our readers.

POTN: Hi Quinn! You've got your first book coming out right around now, that's really exciting! Can you tell us a bit about it?

Quinn: Of course, although I always find this a hard question because the book covers so much across its thirteen chapters. It explores ancient Paganism, historical witchcraft, cunning folk traditions, modern paths such as Druidry, magic in the 18th and 19th centuries, the Wheel of the Year, Wicca, and even the origins of popular “Pagan” symbols. I really wanted it to be a single place where someone could get a broad, accurate foundation in how Paganism and Witchcraft work and where they come from.

POTN: What made you want to write this book?

Quinn: I wanted to create a book that had pretty much everything in one place, something I wish I’d had when I was sixteen. I spent years navigating misinformation, misconceptions, and confident practitioners telling me things that later turned out not to be true. I even paid for ‘Witch schools’ that were really just teaching Wicca, and I’ve bought so many books I now regret because the information wasn’t accurate.

So I wanted to put everything, with sources and citations, into one book so others don’t have to go through what I did. It’s not a ‘my path is the right path’ book. I don’t talk about my personal beliefs at all. I focus on facts, origins, stories, and what’s happening right now in the Pagan and Witch world so readers can make their own informed decisions and forge their own path.

POTN: Can you explain your own path please for our readers?

Quinn: I’ve been Pagan for a long time, and my path has evolved a lot. Like many people, I began with Wicca as a teenager, but over time I realised I connected more with the energy of nature itself than with multiple deities. Today, I’d describe myself as an animist Pagan and a Witch, two linked but distinct parts of my practice.

I never felt connected to Christianity growing up, even though school life was full of prayers and nativity plays. I was a history‑obsessed, nature‑loving kid, so discovering goddesses opened up a whole world of beliefs and traditions I’d never been taught about. Growing up in Newcastle, surrounded by Roman history, I was never told the Romans were Pagan - the word wasn’t mentioned at all. Realising how Pagan our history actually is completely fascinated me. With Wicca being the most visible path at the time (and the internet being nothing like it is now), that’s where I started, and my path has grown and shifted ever since.

POTN: Has it been hard editing a zine as well as authoring a book? What's been your favourite part?

Quinn: The book was actually meant to come out last October, but life got in the way, as it does. So I decided to release it on the 20th of March, the Spring Equinox, which felt like the perfect moment for new beginnings and for the return of Pagans of the North as well.

Balancing the zine and the book has definitely been a challenge, but my favourite part has been seeing how both projects feed into each other. The research, the community conversations, the myth‑busting, it all overlaps in a really energising way

.POTN: What advice would you give to new Pagans or those wanting to find out more?Quinn: Start with curiosity, not pressure. Explore widely. Don’t feel you have to commit to a label straight away. And be aware that not everything you hear, even from confident, experienced practitioners, is accurate. That’s exactly why I wrote this book: to give people a grounded starting point, with sources, so they can build their own understanding without getting lost in misinformation. In fact, read my book, then take the next step to research further again.

POTN: What's next for you?

Quinn: Honestly, I’m not entirely sure yet. I don’t expect the book to be huge or sell hundreds, though let’s manifest it anyway, but I do have other book ideas in mind. They may take another five years; I’m not someone who can churn out a book in under a year. I need time to draft, reread, and refine before I feel something is ready.

Right now, I’m really excited about everything planned for Pagans of the North. There’s a lot I want to do with it, and I’m looking forward to seeing where both projects take me.

Quinn's account of the history of UK paganism, Pagans, Witches & Everything In Between will be released on the 20th March 2026 for spring equinox.
